Day 9- Today I found one of the little cups was overfilled with water because the soil was watery. I knew that such a setting would drown a seed, so I immediately poured the excess water out of the cup. I thought that that was the end of that.
Upon further inspection however, I found that most, if not all, seedlings were extra wet. Also one of the seedlings is drooping over, which I'm pretty sure is a sign of too much water. Then it hit me! I'm using the special Soil Makers blend that holds water better than regular soil; I overwatered the seedlings! I had a little dry soil leftover so I threw a little on each cup. The dry soil will pull the excess water out of the rest of the soil to create balance; the seedlings should be safe for now.
(Btw I buried the lead...my son watered the plants this morning because he thought "you water everyday"; that's the beauty of the Soil Makers product, it does it all and you only have to water half as much as with regular soil.)
